5TH YEAR PROJECT
PLACE: Bucharest, Opera Park
FUNCTION: Music Pavilion
PROJECT: Imagination

On a large scale, the studied island is found in the middle of a predominantly residential area; it is like an urban garden in the middle of a predominantly built fabric. Inside this garden, different massive points are observed, which seem to be thrown into the greenery, but still, they create connections and relationships between them.

So, we can see how the pavilion finds its place in the park, taking this punctual arrangement of objects. The proposed pavilion is placed somehow on the border of the existing garden, opened to it, a little bit far from the main alley that cuts the island, and rotated so that it is visible and able to offer a friendly welcome, as you look from the Plevnei Street.
The existing paths of the park are unwelcoming, so I decided to add some new paths that surround the pavilion garden and create new connections with the boulevard.
The proposed object takes the form of an open book. It consists of a massive wall against which rests an inclined plane, where we can find the tribune, with the stage in the middle, as a support element for the two sheets. For a better support of the inclined plane, I added two more supports - the pillar under the tribune and the cables that support it and which are caught in the vertical wall.
The third page of the book, namely the horizontal plane, is represented by the materiality of the floor, which I planned to be composed of concrete slabs in the area arranged with urban furniture, adding some gravel around them. The entire pavilion is made of concrete, aided by steel in the balustrade area and the beams that support the stage.
